Where Shall I Live?

Older adults who are no longer able, physically or financially, to maintain their current home are frequently at a loss as to where they can live while continuing to maintain their independence.

For generations, their options were to either move in with an adult child or move in to a “nursing home”, neither of which promoted independent living.  However, the growing number of outside support services designed to help a senior live independently longer, and the increasingly broad range of facilities catering to different levels of needs, have given older adults a much larger choice in how where they choose to spend their older years.

Because there are now so many options, and more developing every day, it can become confusing to choose the one most appropriate to a particular situation.

This presentation looks at some of the housing options available to seniors and the support services available to encourage and maintain independent living.  It also looks at the importance of planning and preparing in advance for life’s changes, so that a senior can be confident and proactive in moving ahead.
