Older or Elderly — Ageism Exists

Age is just a number! So why are we sometimes so reluctant to admit our age? Why do so many people still subscribe to the stereotypical images of doddering little old men, and white-haired ladies sitting in their rocking chairs while they knit?

Ageism, like racism and sexism, is a form of prejudice and prejudgement that shapes the perceptions of society. Sometimes, as we age, we become our own worst enemies – without realizing it, we promote ageism within ourselves as well as within society.

This seminar looks at common ageist attitudes, factors contributing to ageism and current trends.  And then it counters these negatives with a positive look at ageing and the upside of getting older.
